Volt Button Extender 1″ Replacement Button

Replacement of the button for the Volt Button Extender in case it is lost or damaged.  I have been installing the buttons with medium strength blue Loctite, but a few have apparently become unscrewed.  I have researched this problem and found that it is recommended to use a primer on anodized aluminum, so I will begin doing that for new orders (the piston that the button is attached to is anodized aluminum and the Delrin button comes with a steel heli-coil thread installed).  To install a replacement button some precautions should be taken:

1- thoroughly clean the threads with a steel brush and then clean with a solvent. Acetone or Brake Cleaner would be the best, but scrubbing with denatured alcohol might suffice.

2- I include a small capsule of high strength red Loctite.  It is considered more permanent and normally requires high heat to loosen (which would melt the Delrin), but it might give that extra grip that the blue didn’t.  The only downside might be if you decided to change the length of the button, but in that case I recommend you return the extender to me for that.

3- Remember to use a #25 Torx bit to hold onto the end of the piston as you screw the new button on….
